Common Synthesis

da5idh Sounds like a kaleidoscopic soundtrack to an unreleased Nintendo cart. Starts like Mario on mutant breakbeat jungle frenzied Amen beats before diving into chilled arps, riffs and chords. Bonus of another bit of Milieu melodic magic at the end too. Favorite track: Basics Are Back (Milieu's Paperback Stack).

-added an amazing Milieu remix~! Monday, August 31st, 2020

Recorded in 2019, Common Synthesis is both about a certain sound and era of electronic music that's been in my heart lately. I wanted to make something that took part in that somehow, even if I am over a decade and a half late. the tracks on this album aren't anything new or even as well done as the music it emulates, but it's my take on what is, in my head, classic electronica; with something of an intimate or personal touch to it. I began recording this material with the goal of making an electronic piece solid enough to be on vinyl, and while I'm not sure if I achieved this, I'm personally very happy with the result.

Inspirations for this album include the likes of Milieu, Mrs Jynx, Orange Dust, Wisp, and countless other electronic musicians who were publishing music in the early 2000's who unknowingly helped pave the way for my own passions and ambitions. also of note, during recording I was rediscovering classic Nintendo games like Super Mario Bros, Metroid, Final Fantasy and Legend Of Zelda I & II. While some of these influences may not be entirely perceptible to the listener, I feel they are worth mentioning as documentary to the process, and perhaps, as explanation to the playful and sometimes degenerative nature of the work. I believe this album will serve as a landmark for my growing collection of music and set the tone for my future work.

While some may have valid criticisms about this album, for instance; shameless repeated use of the 'Amen break', obvious and repeated sample use from critically acclaimed movies (the Goonies, Alien, The Thing, Airplane, Mad Max, to name a few...) I maintain a confidence about this work that resides under context of an era of time that inspired these tracks. I guess you could say i'm trying to time travel a bit, so it's safe to say I'm indulging in nostalgia here. it's about a certain feeling that I wanted to capture, and I feel I've accomplished that, perhaps with reckless abandon. But in what other way is there to chase a feeling? Either way, I hope that you, the listener, "in your new capacity as audio playback engineer" - gets something from it.

plans for special guest remixes and expansions are in effect for the future~! watch this space or follow my other platforms to stay updated. thanks for listening~!
